how it works
IDEAL TIME FOR A PHOTOSHOOt
It’s never too early to book! Timing is everything when it comes to newborn photography. For a newborn baby photo session I like to try and get the babies into my studio before they are two weeks of age. When we are looking to obtain those sleepy, posed shots the younger the baby the better. A baby that is fresh and new is much more likely to provide me with a deep sleep allowing me to work with their tiny bodies to achieve those adorable shots. They are also very flexible at this age and quite enjoy being curled up and cozy while asleep just as they were in mommy’s belly. I understand that these first few weeks are unpredictable, so I welcome babies up to 4 weeks old for newborn sessions. Keep in mind that once beyond those first days we will not be able to get the sleepy, curled poses. If you are sure you want specific poses, please ask about those during your consultation.
I only book a limited number of newborn sessions per month to ensure availability around your due date. I offer sessions on weekday mornings, when babies are at their sleepiest.
SESSION EXPIRIENCE
Newborn session is never rushed as I only book one client a day, which allows us freedom to spend the time needed to perfect each set up. My passion for newborn portraits is the create a simple, timeless look without the use of overpowering props or unnatural posing. Once your session is booked, I will send you a Newborn Preparation Guide with plenty of tips on how to prepare for your baby’s first photo session.
WARDROBE
Our wardrobe consists of 100% organic materials. Our fabrics and accessories are gentle on your baby's skin. All of our items are washed in organic detergents that are free of harsh chemicals.
A beautiful collection of silk draping, form-fitting dresses, bodysuits, lace robes, gowns and accessories are provided for mama at no additional cost!
Family portraits
Newborn session includes portraits with parents and siblings. Parent and/or sibling photos will take about 20-30 minutes of your session in the beginning or at the end of the session. I do love photographing the connection between you and your baby! Even if you don’t think you want a photo with you and your baby, please do reconsider. For the most part, parent shots are taken chest up and take just a few minutes. They are only little for a little while. Also, please know that I aim to photograph using flattering angles and light to create beautiful images you will cherish.
SELECTING YOUR PORTRAITS
Right after the photoshoot we will view your proofing gallery on a big screen and I will be happy to help you to choose the best photographs for retouching.
RETOUCHING
The portrait session is only the beginning of creating your custom artwork. Each image is carefully and tastefully edited into a unique work of art. Artistic photo retouching is included in the session. I specialize in the most comprehensive and detailed editing. While I focus on creating a natural look I will edit your photos to your liking. I want you to treasure your final portraits.
TURNAROUND TIME
I know how important it is for you to get your portraits as soon as possible! I always try to deliver retouched digital portraits within 3 weeks after full payment is received for the order. Sometimes (during very busy months) it may take up to 4 weeks. You will receive them via an online gallery. Then, it takes about 2-3 weeks for all of your products (albums, folio boxes, wall art, etc) to be delivered and ready for you to take home! Need 1-2 images ASAP to share with your family and friends? Not a problem! I can retouch them and deliver within 2-3 days after the photoshoot with no additional charge. You may expedite processing time of the whole gallery for an additional fee. Rush fee amount depends on the order and requested turnaround time.
